International Design and
Part-Build Service
As well as
our full construction service in the UK we also provide an
international design and part-build construction service.
With this design
and part-build construction service we carry out the
design and technical specifications, so that you or local contractors can carry out most of the
construction elements yourself, such as excavation, retaining walls,
liner, timber and stone work etc. We would then come to site
ourselves for a few days to install
the filtration system.
To date we have
helped or are helping people to build natural swimming pools in Greece, France,
Italy, and Boston, USA.
How
does the process work?
Whether we
are helping you build a natural swimming pool in the UK or on the other
side of the world, there are always three stages in the process:
1. Design
Consultation (on-site or remote)
2. Design and
Technical Specifications
3. Construction
1.
Design Consultation
The purpose
of a Design Consultation is for us to understand very
clearly what you are looking for, and to understand the requirements of the site -
the location, climate, and the specific local circumstances and
conditions. It is also for us to explain to you how we
work, what is possible, and to inspire you!
The Design Consultation can be
on-site (Europe only) or remote. For details about on-site
consultations please see the UK section.
If you ever pass through London it
also works very well if we can talk face-to-face in our
Islington office.
For a Remote
Design Consultation we will initially email
you a Design Questionnaire which we ask you to fill
in and return to us.
After getting
this information we will study it and arrange to talk with you
on the phone (or web conference) to clarify our understanding of your vision and
requirements, of the site conditions and the environment, and to explore together the possibilities, potential and options.
We will then
send you a Design Consultation Report which will outline the
content and conclusions of your questionnaire and our phone
conversation, and provide a more accurate estimate of the costs
and options involved with your project. This report forms
the basis for proceeding with the Design stage.
2.
Design and Technical Specifications
The Design stage
involves the production of AutoCAD designs and technical
specifications, and confirmation of project costs (which usually do
not change or change very little from the Design Consultation stage), which
all form the basis for the Construction stage.
First we will produce a
concept AutoCAD design and communicate with you by email and
phone to finalise this so that you are happy to proceed.
Please see examples here.
We
then produce all the detailed design documentation and specifications
which will be used by your construction team in
building your natural pool to our specific requirements.
Please see examples here.
We can
explain more about the Design and Construction stages during the
Design Consultation.
3.
Construction Stage
While you or
local contractors carry out the construction work we will always be in touch to ensure that everything is progressing
as planned. We will ask for photos of the site and will
communicate regularly by phone and email.
Maintenance
On completion of
the construction we will give you a maintenance manual which will
explain how everything works and simple tasks which can be carried
out. We always like to be regularly in touch after the construction
to see how each
swimming pond grows and matures over the months
and years.
The maintenance
required for a natural swimming pool is much lower than for a conventional pool as nature itself carries out
most of the cleaning
service. There will however be some basic maintenance required
such as emptying the skimmer,
and the key to maintaining a natural pool is that it receives a
small amount of regular attention. With the most recent
filtration systems we now install maintenance should take no more
than a few minutes every week.
if you need
advice or have any questions about maintaining your pool, we can
arrange a consultancy service, as during the design and construction
stages, so that any necessary tasks can carried be out appropriately
and correctly.
